Mera Rang De Basnati Chola

We the Indians.
This simple sentence reminds of me many faces.
Faces of Indian Soldiers, soldiers who lost their lives on Kargil.
Faces of Indian Politician who just need power.
Faces of Indian beurocratic system, just looking for their %age in everything.
Faces of the Indian Youth who need “Mera Rang de basanti chola” to get that “feel”.
This is not a movie review. This post has nothing to do with Amir Khan who is the leading actor or as we say Hero in the movie.
Nothing to do with the controversy it created.
The post is related to all the Indians who need some thing like MRDBC to feel that they are Indian and they shud be part of the REVOLUTION.
Which revolution?
IT Revolution.
Call Center Revolution.
Study Abroad Revolution.
The youth is confused. I got a message on my MSN from a person, very successful person, “Watch MRDBC. Good movie.”
I casually replied, “Hey how r u? Madagascar is also good movie. You must watch it.”
I guess I hurt her newly discovered PATRIOTISM.
Her reply was, “Oh, This film is not meant for you. You can not be part of the revolution. You wont understand it.”
This was offensive for me. Obviously no one can not doubt my intelligence. I asked her, “Which revolution? What will not I understand?”
She: “Nothing. India is down only becaouse of ppl like you.”
This was a slap on my face. I was offended.
Just at this moment I respected this person as she was successful. Same age. Same field but she was bigger in size and have asked me to join her many times, I politely turning down her offer.
Me:”Hey this is offensive. I dont need to prove my love for my country. I dont need a movie to send blood rushing to my brain telling me that I must love my country. I dont need amir khan to come on screen and say Mera Bharat Mahan to believe that India is great.”
But she was under influence of MRDBC Steroid.
Why the we Indian get patriotic only after watching movies?
Why can’t we always tell ppl in Yahoo! Chat Rooms that we are Indians?
What has India become?
Cheap Labour.
One of my foreign client was surprised when he first got a quot from me.
“Hey you are very expensive. I thot Indians are cheap.”
I first of all asked him to find some one else to do his job.
Secondly I told him that Indians are not CHEAP.
When I told him that India was among first 5 countries who cud place their satellite in orbit he was amazed. I told him its just the difference between the value of US$ and Indian Re that he finds Indian workers less costly.
He calls me for all his jobs now and wants to visit India. I impressed him about India. I feel proud of this.
But ppl around me are ready to sell themself just to leave THIS COUNTRY.
My clients in Australia and UK want to visit India as soon as possible. For them India is a must see country. And we Indians want to go Malaysia, Singapur, Thailand or Switzerland. I doubt people in Chandigarh know about Ramgarh fort. Kids in school can tell how many states are in US but they dont know how many states are in India.
Why are we lagging in development?
In my opinion we just love India when we watch Cricket Matches or movies. After that India and Indian system is pathetic. We are corrupt, we san civic sense, we are conservatives, we are superstitious and we are still a 3rd world country.
Israel is a very small country. Nearly every middle east country wants to wipe off Israel from wold map. But even US cant do anything against Israel. Why?
Israelis have community spirit. They love their motherland. They will do anything to save an Israeli. Here in India we hate our fellow Indians.
Hindus hate muslims and muslims hate hindus.
Jains want reservation as they are minority class.
Christian missionaries are busy in converting hindus to christians and hindus activists reconverting them to hindu.
No one has got time to think about India.
We watch a movie. We get carried away for a while. We want to be the part of the revolution. Then after two three days we realise that India is a pathetic country.
:)
