The lunch was again Burritos. Rajma-Rice wrapped in Roti with cheese and lettuce. The good thing was nachos/tacos or whatever those chips were with sauce. I liked those chips. I also had a chilled medium sized soda drink. Sore throat? After lunch I was trying hard to keep myself awake.

I and Ankit decided to have Parantha in dinner. So we started frying a parantha in a pan. The frying generated enough smoke to turn on the smoke alarm prompting room service/front desk team in hotel to call me if everything was fine.

Nothing special happened.

Life some times gets boring.

Somehow around 2:30PM I managed to pull myself out of bed. Relaxed in bath tub just coz I didnt want to take bath. Bath tub is lazy way to clean your self. Around 4:30 I headed 85 North and was on El Camino road. Parked the car near best buy and started walking.

And surprisingly, we (me and Ankit) found a Bangla Store, an Udupi restaurant, an Indian Boutiqu, aged Indian couple, young Indian couples and hey, Indian Cash and Carry Store. WOW!!!

I purchased 5 kind of frozen paranthas and aam ka achaar. Yummy!!! (sore throat)

An Indian fast food joint adjoining this store was obliged with our presence. We only spoke Punjabi, even at the counter. Incidentally the owners of store and fast food joint were both Punjabi, speaking Punjabi. I felt I was in Chandigarh. I had Samosa. Sore throat??? What is sore throat??? If I had sore throat in India no one will let me get near to samosa. I am not a great samosa fan but hell to everything. Its some thing Indian.

I kept coughing till 2:30AM and could not sleep.

Dont burn your hands

Posted by – July 21, 2009

None of my bosses were able to teach me technical stuff. They all tried to teach me duniyadari. Everyone tried hard. So did my friends and I didn’t learn anything.

One of my ex-boss knew that I wasn’t interested in learning his philosophy and was more interested in studying why Open Source is better. He used to say…

Chetan ji I have learned this after burning my hands. When I was at your age some one used to say the same words to me which I am saying to you. Same. And believe me you are going to tell this story to everyone and no one will learn from it. Its not your fault. Its your age. I will ask you not to put your hand on flames coz its dangerous, you may burn your hand. But you belong to gen-x and your instant reaction will be, fuck this man. He enjoyed his time and now when its my time he is getting all philosophical. Fuck him. To hell with him. And you will do what ever you feel is correct. You will burn your hands. And then you will realise that mother fucker was correct.

This happened with me. I burned my hands so many times but I didn’t learn. Dad wanted me to complete my studies and I didn’t. Nitin wanted me to learn business tactics and don’t trust any one blindly I didn’t. Then there have been n times I have been warned about things and I didn’t pay any attention.

Now I have realised I have burned my hands and I cant do anything.

Day 13 – Santa Cruz Beach & Ubuntu

Posted by – July 20, 2009

I woke up at 9:30. BoyI have slept too much and my sore throat was still sore. Damn it. I decided to install Ubuntu. At 10:03 I hit the install button. At 10:11 I am using Ubuntu on my sarkari laptop. Now I need to enable Desktop Cube on it. After some clicks its done. Life is boring. So I again slept for some time. I and Ankit have decided to oblige Santa Cruz beach so we filled our Chevy Cobalt and hit 17. We reached and drove to parking lot and drove and drove and drove and drove and drove…

Somehow we managed to find parking for 10US$ at 5:30PM. At 6:15PM we decided to return. I decided to have a sub in my dinner and stopped at subway. Sore throat and mustard sauce and lot of Jalapenos. Kewl. Sore throat remains sore.

Day 12 – A Bocce game and yukk pizza

Posted by – July 20, 2009

Today a Bocce game was organised. Its a boring game. So I spend 2 precious hours of my life looking at people throwing balls. During these 2 hours I had a large Coke + large lemonade + a fried thing that had grated Panerr stuffed in + slice of Pizza specially meant for Vegetarians. Now, the Pizza was part of a conspiracy to turn Vegetarians into Non-Vegetarians. It tasted yukk!!! I threw away my slice. Nothing tasted good and as I was hungry I had to rely on sala that too consisted of tomato. And on top of it, Bocce.

The only good thing that happened today was Ubuntu. I created a live USB installation. Tried it on my sarkari laptop and decided to install it. After this decision I was in bed and was sleeping.
