Day 11 – Noodle Soups & how to dig your own grave?

Posted by – July 18, 2009

As yesterday was not enough I decided to dig my own grave. I pulled out a bottle of 7Up stocked in my refrigerator for last4-5 days and enjoyed the drink. My sore throat is still sore.

I skipped lunch and waited for dinner. Dinner was simple. Noodle soup, Nissin Noodle Soup. Microwaved.

Work was ok ok. Notihng special. Watched Byomkesh Bakshi and  Valkyrie.

Day 10 – Apple Walnut salad & how to commit suicide

Posted by – July 17, 2009

Today’s million dollar question was answered by Apple Walnut. We went to a place named Aqui. The place was quit decent as compared to all other food joints “I” have seen in USA. I must say I haven’t dared to enter these places, these are expensive $-). But I had Indian and this place can’t be as expensive as Indian buffet. I orderd Apple Walnut Salad and for drink I opted for Cranberry Juice. Chilled Cranberry juice.

Now the suicide part.
My sore throat is still sore. As per my “research”, sore throat heals in 7 days. So its still sore. Friday will be 7th day. Still I opted for all thing ice cold. Chilled Cranberry juice. Salad with iced lettuce. As this wasn’t enough. I had Chalupas in the dinner with cheese and all the hot and fiery sauces. Although anything labeled hot in US of the A just tingles me but still sauce is sauce. And big glass of chilled soda. I am still alive so that means I failed in my endeavour. So any one with sore throat can try this but will may alive.

Anyway. It was a good day.

Day 9 – Subway

Posted by – July 16, 2009

What will you have in lunch?
This is a million dollar question if you have run out of options. But it cost me just over 3 dollars. I drove to Subway. Yes you have to “drive” to have decent lunch. Its US of the A. I had a “Veggie Delite” sub. Not coz it was the cheapest one but coz it was the only thing totally veggie after salad. I got the sub topped with extra Jalapenos. Hic-hic-hickups! It was really a filling and satisfying meal I had in last 9 days. Imlovinit.

Ibuprofene helps in pain.

Watched Byomkesh Bakshi. And slept around 00:29 hours I guess….hmm… :-?

Day 8 – Sore throat: Hunt for Betadine mouth gargle

Posted by – July 15, 2009

I found Doctor Abhishek online and pinged him for some open sourced information regarding sore throat. He is the guy who introduced me to Ubuntu when I was hooked to Fedora. I fell in love with Ubuntu. It was damn easy. He suggested me Betadine mouth gargles. So at lunch time I and Ankit decided to hit the road.

And as it was happening, we got lost. Thanks to the navigational skills of two grown ups decently educated men. Ankit is a GNDU product. He did his engineering from University campus but he gives me tough competition in wrongly assessing a way out.

Anyway, we found the way. Line me twist hai. :-)

But hunt for Betadine was unsuccessful and I ended up buying Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen proved good and I had some relief from pain.

Oh, I also had supreme burritos for 6$, in India it means I had Rajma Chawal wrapped in Roti for 250+ Rupees.

Day 7 – Sore throat & a trip to San Jose Down Town

Posted by – July 14, 2009

Sunday morning I decided that I will not give up to this damn sore throat and body ache and fever and cough and cold and all these symptoms that are coincidentally similar to swine flu and will go and see a doctor. So I called up the room service and asked if there was a doctor in hotel or around the hotel. Room service advised me to visit the nearest hospital, Kaiser Permanante. I got out of the bed. Pulled my socks. (Literally) And drove to hospital. I parked my car in the parking lot and…

…and returned to my room. Man they will deport me and thats not enough, I will be infamous :-( nahiiiiii!!!!!

After some googling I found that I am suffering form bad cold and sore throat. D’oh.

I gargled with hot water with some salt mixed and felt some relief. It works!

Around 4:30PM me and Ankit decided to oblige San Jose down town with our presence. And I drove to San Jose down town. As I expected, San Jose down town wasn’t expecting our presence all the shops were closed. Anyway. We returned around 7PM. I had cooked Dal. Pathetic Dal. Anyway. No one was going to taste and say anything so I quietly had my Dal with bread. It was tough to swallow but it was better than Saturday.
